15 - Mini pretzels (for antlers)
16 - Sprinkles and edible glitter (optional)
# How-To:
01 - In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
02 - In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
03 - Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract if using; beat until fully combined.
04 - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until dough forms.
05 - Divide the dough in half, shape each into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
06 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
07 - Roll out chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into oval or round shapes using a cookie cutter or glass.
08 - Place cookies one inch apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges turn lightly golden. Cool completely on a wire rack.
09 - Mix powdered sugar with milk and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. Tint a portion with brown gel food coloring.
10 - Spread brown icing over each cookie for the reindeer face. Attach red candies for noses, black candies for eyes, and mini pretzels as antlers using icing. Garnish with sprinkles or edible glitter if desired. Allow icing to set.
